Today, we find ourselves living through unprecedented times. The COVID-19 situation continues to impact each of us. All across the globe people are facing significant health risks and financial uncertainty. This crisis has hit the commercial truck industry, automotive industry and the economy particularly hard. Because of these realities and to ensure that we can navigate the financial challenges ahead, we are taking certain measures, including some that have unfortunately affected each of our employees:

  • As of March 23, 2020, some of our employees were furloughed, at least until Governor Carney lifts the stay at home restrictions. Furloughed employees are without pay; however, those currently enrolled will maintain uninterrupted health coverage.
  • We have negotiated discounts with many of our vendors and eliminated other monthly expenditures to help reduce the outflow of resources
  • Our Parts and Service teams continue to be on the front lines supporting our First Responders, Logistics Drivers and Governmental Fleets
  • Our Sales teams and Managers are working by appointment and from home. They are proactively communicating with our customers and continue to generate business

I am very hopeful that both the economy and Bayshore will return to normal and we will work hard to reopen as soon as practical, but much of this is now outside of our control.  I recognize this news was extremely dissapointing for you and I had hoped we would not have to take such an action. But with each passing week, the financial consequences have become more apparent. I am so disappointed that many of you have not been able to work these past several weeks and I assure you we will end the furlough as soon as possible.

I am sure you are wondering if these actions will be enough. Will there be more changes coming? Once again, if I am honest with myself, I have to give the toughest answer - I really don't know. It's possible that things could quickly improve. But it's also possible these challenges may force us to delay our return to normalcy. In that case, more measures might be needed. We want to stay connected with you during this time and will keep communicating with you regularly. Check back on this page as we will update it periodically when we receive new information.

I have made decisions over the last few weeks that I never could have anticipated in my 30 plus years working in this business. I recognize the impact of this decision on you, and I do not take it lightly. I am humbled and grateful for your passion and dedication to each other, the community and our industry - it's what makes our team and this company so special. During this challenging time, please continue to prioritize the health, safety and wellbeing of yourselves and your loved ones.

This moment in time is certainly unique in nature. We have faced many different challenges over the last 44 years and have remained strong. I can say with confidence that in the midst of this adversity we will again face the challenge head on. We will learn from it, we will adapt, and we will get through this together continuing to thrive as a company for many years to come.

Most Sincerely,

Joe Tracy
